Tropical Storm Colin | CAT365

Tropical Storm Colin | July 2, 2022, 5am ET

So we have our third named system, “Colin,” off the coast of South Carolina with 40mph winds, headed northeast at 8mph. NHC forecasts are not blowing this up as it heads along the coast through Monday, but we should watch as it could throw some decent gusts and rogue storms along the coastline.

Crazy how fast this thing spun up. I mean it looked nice when I went to bed, but I didn’t expect to wake up to Colin. Want to know something even funnier?… The models don’t even show Colin on their 6z runs.. Yup, we have a confirmed Tropical Storm off the US coast and not one shows it on their morning run. Yikes… now that’s scary.

As for the rest of the tropics, Bonnie’s headed out to the Pacific and our yellow straggler is losing steam, but I still say to watch it as it pushes energy closer to the Gulf. Just to be safe…

As for the next 7-10 days, ensembles aren’t showing much for the first week or so of July. The Caribbean could heat up some, but nothing pinging just yet. But again, they still haven’t pinged an actual system off our coast… So I guess it’s wide open, so be alert….
