Ta-Shun Anderson Jr.

May 2026

My name is Ta-Shun Anderson Jr, and I’m a Business Intelligence Data Analyst II in the Business Intelligence department.

My Role and Background

As a Business Intelligence Analyst II, my role focuses on turning complex data into clear, actionable insights that support decision-making across the business. I partner with stakeholders from operational teams to executives to ensure the data we deliver aligns with strategic goals.

On a typical day, I balance data modeling, report development, and problem-solving. This includes building and refining Power BI dashboards, writing and optimizing SQL queries, and validating data for accuracy and consistency. I also collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, share actionable insights, and resolve reporting challenges, ensuring the data we deliver is not only accurate, but truly meaningful.

Since I was a kid, I have been interested in business, commerce, and finance. My first big break was starting “Shun’s Quality Lawn Care” at age 12 or 13. I printed business cards, dragged the lawnmower around with my bike, and competed with commercial landscapers in my neighborhood and surrounding areas. Over time, that grew into marketing skills, building websites, and launching a few joint college businesses selling printed shirts, crocheted goods, and other odds and ends.

When I started at Tower Hill in 2018, I was an Operations Data Processor. During my time here, I’ve worked in Claims, Underwriting, and other departments while learning more about the business. In 2022, I focused on developing my analytics skills and earned a Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate. Conveniently enough, the Business Intelligence team was hiring analysts, and the rest is history. Looking back, had I known what I know now, I may have pursued this role from the start. At the same time, I truly benefitted from the exposure to the many facets of Tower Hill.

“The people who work here want to be here and take pride in what they do. That’s contagious, and my goal is to contribute to that environment. “

Why Tower Hill

Tower Hill is the first company I worked for out of college that gave me some semblance of a career path. Before joining, I worked as a pharmacy technician, a table server, and a dishwasher. After graduating, I planned to go back to school, but starting as an Operations Data Processor in October 2018 opened a different path.

Being from Gainesville, I had heard a lot about the company and even knew people who worked here. Once I joined the organization, I took advantage of the bright minds around me and the opportunity to learn from the best.

One thing that sets Tower Hill apart is the people. I’ll never forget my first company party in the gym with a masquerade theme and everyone doing the macarena, having a small cameo in a commercial, supporting the SWAG Back to School Drive, or the connections made during the 50th anniversary celebration at Universal.

The people who work here want to be here and take pride in what they do. That’s contagious, and my goal is to contribute to that environment.

What I Enjoy Most

The challenge.

Nothing worth doing is ever easy. On any given day, a system update can impact reporting, a hurricane can require on-demand data, or a compliance request can shift priorities overnight.

I’ve worked in roles where the day-to-day became repetitive and eventually felt like a grind. What I appreciate about Business Intelligence is that the landscape is always evolving. You are constantly learning, adapting, and looking ahead.

There are also so many impactful initiatives happening across the organization. I enjoy staying connected to what other teams are doing and contributing wherever I can to help move those efforts forward.

My Career Development

Throughout my time at Tower Hill, I’ve continued to grow both technically and professionally.

Winning Employee of the Quarter for Teamwork in Q4 2024 is one of the accomplishments I am most proud of. It completely caught me off guard because I didn’t feel like I had done much outside of my normal responsibilities. It was something I had written down as a personal goal, so being recognized in that way meant a lot.

At the same time, it was truly a collective effort. Reflecting on it, I could not have done it without the support of the people around me. I’ve learned a lot from my teammates and leaders along the way.
