Why did you choose Tower Hill?

I had worked with Tower Hill earlier in my career and knew they were one of the best carriers in the state. So, when I was given the opportunity to work with them again, based on reinsurance, product availability, and the variety of products they offer, it was really a no-brainer for me.

Tower Hill has been in Florida since 1972. They’re the longest-standing carrier in the state, and I will recommend them to anybody because being here is more than half the battle. Longevity matters, especially in Florida’s insurance market.

What I love seeing from Tower Hill is the continued growth and dedication to Florida. I’ve been here long enough to see carriers leave and rates hike dramatically, so it’s reassuring to know that the carrier that’s been here the longest is committed to staying here.

Tower Hill is one of my favorite companies in the state. They stand above the rest in so many areas. Continued growth and dedication, not only to the insured, but also to the agent, is a recipe for success, and one I believe can continue well into the future.

What are some common questions from policyholders?

There are two big things I always try to explain upfront during the new business process.

The first is hurricane deductibles. I keep it plain and simple: whether it’s 2% or $10,000, that’s what will come out of your pocket before you get paid.

The second is hurricane coverage for screened enclosures. That beautiful birdcage around your pool? It’s usually not covered by your insurance policy and can cost $40,000 to replace it. If you’re not prepared to pay out of pocket to replace it, that extra $200–$300 a year for hurricane coverage on a screened enclosure can really come in handy. Screened enclosures commonly get damaged in hurricanes, I’ve seen it.

I try to make sure those conversations happen upfront so people understand the coverage they have, the premium they’re paying, and what will happen in the event of a loss.

How is Tower Hill’s customer service?

I have a few examples, but Tower Hill really stands out as a start-to-finish carrier in my mind.

During the new business application process, there’s a lot of common-sense underwriting that allows the carrier to work with the insured to get them the insurance they want, whether they’re purchasing a new home or moving their policy to Tower Hill.

And then, of course, there’s claims time. That’s when clients are in their biggest moment of need and often don’t know the direction forward. It’s wonderful to have a carrier that is quick, responsive, and handles claims fairly and efficiently. From start to finish, Tower Hill delivers.
