Before You Sign, Talk with Your Insurance Agent
We’ve received reports of contractors going door to door in your neighborhood, offering to work with your insurance carrier on your claim. Be cautious! Before you sign a contract for repairs to your home, be sure to speak with your insurance agent or your Tower Hill Claims Representative.
Why? Because some contractors and other service providers may ask — or require — that you sign an Assignment of Benefits (AOB) Form prior to repairing the damage to your home. By signing an AOB, you are giving away your rights to make decisions about repairs to a third-party. With the authority granted by an AOB, the contractor or third-party assignee can do the following without your knowledge:
- File a claim with your insurance company.
- Collect payments from your home insurance company, without your knowledge.
- Make repair decisions about your home without your input.
By signing an Assignment of Benefits document, you may be signing away your rights.
Got Damage? We Can Help!
A benefit exclusively for Tower Hill customers, CastleCare provides 24/7 access to emergency home services and repairs such as water extraction. When you need help in a hurry, call 844.TOWER.11 (844.869.3711). After emergency repairs are made to help prevent further damage, CastleCare works closely with your Tower Hill Claims Representative.
CastleCare’s participating network service providers are experienced, credentialed and licensed with more than 10 trades available in addition to emergency repair services, including: plumbing; roofing; mold remediation; fire mitigation; and general construction. Importantly, CastleCare network vendors never ask you to sign an AOB. If consulting with a repair company other than CastleCare, please do not authorize the contractor to begin significant repairs until the damage has been inspected by your insurance company.
